Staircase – the last track on Terrain – came to life back in November 2018, when I was playing around with Arturia's soft synth version of Fairlight CMI. Arturia released its Pigments synth around the same time. I bought it and took Staircase for a ride. This experiment turned into the opening track Abyssal. In between these two tracks you'll find five other “versions”. My aim was to create different soundscapes – “terrain variations” – based on the same core material.
